Grist: Eban Goodstein's article on Choose Your Future

Eban Goodstein, professor of economics at Lewis & Clark College and director of Focus the Nation, has a wonderful piece today in Grist on global warming and what YOU can do about it.

It is clear that we are standing at a critical moment in human history. Unless we begin to cut global-warming pollution within a few short years, a window for our children and the creatures of this earth will close. Forever...

Choose Your Future is a program from his group that allows people to take part in saving our planet.

Look what a local community cafe posted about us in Central Florida:

Focus the Nation @ UCF - Get Involved!

January 31st from 9am - 6pm

Focus the Nation is organizing a national teach-in on global warming solutions for America-creating a dialogue at over a thousand colleges, universities, high schools, middle schools, places of worship, civic organizations and businesses, and directly engaging millions of students and citizens with thenation's decision-makers.

UCF is hosting an event featuring a mix of exhibits, discussion panels, book signing & hybrid test-drives and so much more. The keynote speaker is Hunter Lovins, co-author of Natural Capitalism (one of my favorite eco-books).

The "marketplace" will include over 50 exhibitors who will provide valuable information to students and members of our community on solutions to climate change. We'll have pods displaying information on Climate Change and Your Body, Energy Savings, Effective and Safe Landscaping, Transportation, UCF Faculty, UCF Student Clubs, UCF Green Activities (ex. green roofs and plug-in hybrid). < Get involved! Coordinators of this event are looking for:

Businesses, faith organizations and schools to sign up to broadcast thewebcast on January 30th.
Schools that may want to coordinate a field trip to the event.
Businesses to host a table and/or exhibit.
Sponsors (of course!)

Local musicians to take part in a closing concert event.
For more information about how to get involved, please contact Natalia Paredes natyp84@gmail.com 407-782-2375 or visit the local chapter website here.
